Standard leaders are a great choice for the less proven angler and when you don’t require super long leaders. This type of leader fits a lot of the scenarios we meet and is ready to use as is. If you fish streamers or heavy nymphs with a sinking line, a short leader is an advantage if you want to get as deep as possible. Also, when you fish with dry flies in small rivers/creeks with fast water a long leader is not always practical. I you want to customize this leader we like to use a 3 or 4X variant for dry fly fishing, cut off a bit of the tippet, around 30-40 cm (1-1,5 ft), add our 2mm tippet ring and then attach 1-1,5 m (3-5 ft) of tippet in a lower dimension. This gives you versatility for different tippet sizes and flies. They are pre-dyed in a subtle smoke gray colour for added camouflage.Taper profile
The taper on these leaders features; Butt – 40% (109 cm / 3.6 ft), Taper – 35% (96 cm / 3.2 ft), Tip – 25% (69 cm / 2.2 ft). Thickness of butt sections vary with the tippet size and are selected to be optimal for the different line weights. This ensures a good transmit of power to the tippet and makes presentations easy.
