For big flies & large fish

Thanks to its taper, the Power Strike PRO 6.5 ft Predator Leader transfers energy efficiently, ensuring powerful turnover even with the largest predator flies. The leaders are supplied in a 2-pack, and the packaging is UV-resistant and features a zip closure, allowing convenient and secure storage in a vest, pack, or pocket. Each leader features a neatly tied Perfection Loop in the butt section for easy connection the the front loop of your fly line. The leaders are available in two colors selected to match a variety of water conditions; a subtle Stealth Grey for clear lakes and rivers, or a Light Brown for waters with a tint.

These leaders feature an aggressive taper profile specifically designed for casting large, heavy, bulky, and wind-resistant predator flies. The powerful butt section and aggressive taper design ensure efficient energy transfer. Combined with the short overall length, the design delivers excellent turnover and control in demanding conditions. When using smaller fly patterns or when a more delicate presentation is desired, simply add a short length of tippet material to extend the leader.

This leader is designed to be used with our ready-to-go Pike Wire Leader. Simply tie a Perfection Loop in your tapered leader and connect it to the wire leader using a loop-to-loop connection. The wire leader features a pre-tied loop at the rear end and a snap lock at the front, making it quick and easy to assemble as part of your predator leader system.

Taper profile & design

The taper profile consists of three sections: Butt – 26% (50 cm / 1.6 ft), Taper – 37% (73 cm / 2.4 ft), Tip – 37% (73 cm / 2.4 ft). The butt section measures 0.70 mm / 0.028”, which provides an ideal foundation for turning over large streamers and predator flies. This is followed by a shorter, more aggressive taper that transitions smoothly into a tip diameter of 0.55 mm / 0.022”. This tip diameter is substantial enough to create a secure connection to wire leaders that is often used for toothy predators such as pike, bluefish, and tigerfish. Although designed to be short, the leader handles additional tippet with ease if you wish to extend it.
