The originator of this pattern is James Wright (1829-1902). He lived in Sprouston on the River Tweed in Scotland. Over time this became a very popular pattern all over the world, this fly has been alive and well ever since - and is still a very good salmon catcher. The pattern has been further developed by many fly tyers, so today there are an incredible number of interpretations of this fly.
