The GFA is a generic fly and foremost an attractor pattern to trigger slow fish. When there are hoppers and other terrestrials around this fly is a great choice. Also try it when there are big stoneflies & caddis around. We love it for triggering fish in broken water with active retrieve, try it on the lakes when the fishing is slow! This fly floats well and works excellently as an indicator with a nymph or emerger behind it. It’s highly visible and great for fishing fast water with heavier nymphs under, Hopper Dropper is a term!
