Which sole should I have?
Felt soles are the first choice for many because it gives a good grip on rocks and wet surfaces – a typical scenario along a river. Felt is not a good option on snow, ice and clay. However You can mount studs in the felt sole and get additional footing unless there are cold degrees and ice builds up in the felt sole.
Rubber soles cope with many different substrates and if necessary you can mount studs in the sole. A rubber sole is more durable than felt, so if you walk a lot when fishing, rubber soles are the best choice. The pattern and Vibram Idrogrip rubber blend on the Alta represent the ultimate in rubber soles.
