This fly pattern imitates a caddis pupa that have acended to the surface and are on its way to the shore to hatch. Originally designed to be fished as a dry fly, however it has also proven to be very effective when the pupas are sub surface too. A true multipurpose fly!. Fish it dead drift or with gentle retrieve now and then. Or let it skate on the surface towards the shore like the real swimming caddis pupas.
Caddis flies comes in many colors and sizes, your should also consider light and contrast. This fly is mandatory in many rivers in July and August. The swimming caddis pupas ofthen occur when day goes towards night and can be active all night long.
Floatant Tip
Add floatant to the whole fly, our favourite is Tiemco Dry Magic.
After a fish, rinse the fly in water, then revitalize it/dry it with TMC Dry Shake and finally add sparse portion of gel floatant to get back the original colour.
