Klinkhammer or Klinkhåmer is Hans Van Klinken's famous fly which is a kind of a universal dry fly/emerger. It can mimic both may flies and caddis flies. The olive color here is good for both mayflies and caddisflies. But it is a multi-fly or general good fishing fly that works in many different conditions.
Flies like this laying partly on- and under the surface signalize vulnerability, it's trapped and will not get away. The fish know this and often take this type of fly more easily than high-floating dry flies that look as if they could "run away".This is a classic that works in both lakes and rivers. Choose a size that suits the insects you see, if there is little action going on.. then put on a large one and move the fish up!
