Ephemera Danica mainly live in rivers, except on the British Isles where they are also found in still water. This fly is most often used during spinner falls and when the trout have switched to picking dead or dying females on the water. However, it is also an excellent search fly during the periode of the hatch, spents are easy prey!
There are various solutions to imitating a mayfly with such a large body. Our experience is that polychenille is the most functional extended bodies on large mayflies. It provides a flexible body that does not prevent effective hooking, while the material has good floating properties. This variant has a double chenille body that is twisted to keep its shape well and is little stiffer than a single chenille.
