This is an old pattern that was made before WWII. It is the French company Mouches Ragot who has received credit for the fly and it is No. 12 in their Europe series, hence the name. The strength of this pattern is the wing, which gives a very lifelike profile. The fly has a fairly bushy hackle to be able to be fished in a river with stronger current, you are welcome to cut away the hackle on the underside. Then it does not twist the tippet so easily if you want to fish more quiet water, and lands more easily correctly on the water.
