Poly Leaders are the perfect add-on for anglers who prefer to fish full floating lines but still want to be able to quickly adjust the depth of the fly — without changing their entire setup. They are also a great way to add a little extra weight to your line and enhance turnover. Even though Poly Leaders are most often associated with full floating lines, don’t miss the benefits of using them with sinking lines as well. They provide the extra sinking effect needed when fish hold in deeper water during summer or winter fishing.

Taper & Design

Built with a durable PVC coating over a low-stretch monofilament core, these leaders provide smooth energy transfer, excellent turnover, and precise control of fly depth. For ease of use, they are pre-looped from the factory; the back end has a classic coated loop, while the exposed core at the front features a small, tidy Perfection Loop. Each density has its own specific taper and diameter to ensure perfect balance and the most even sinking effect. The heaviest densities have a straight, level taper, which ensures the entire leader sinks at the same speed throughout its length.

Whether you’re chasing trout in a small stream or salmon in a wide river, this series of Poly Leaders offers the right combination of length, weight, and sink rates to match your fishing style. The Trout range consists of 5 ft and 8 ft leaders in four different densities, while the Salmon range has 8 ft and 10 ft models, also in four densities. The strength of the monofilament nylon core differs between the ranges: Trout leaders have a 17 lbs / 0.33 mm core, while the Salmon leaders boast a 30 lbs / 0.45 mm core.

Guideline Poly Leaders are 100% free from hazardous phthalates and are delivered in a multi‑use bag made from recycled plastic with a zip‑lock closure.
