For quick depth adjustments

Polyleaders are the perfect add-on for anglers who prefer to fish full floating lines but still want to be able to quickly adjust the depth of the fly — without changing their entire setup. They are also a great way to add a little extra weight to your line and enhance turnover. Even though Polyleaders are most often thought to be used with full floating lines, do not miss out on using them with sinking lines as well. They will give you the extra sinking effect needed when fish hold in deeper water during summer or winter fishing.

Taper & Design

Built with a durable PVC coating over a low-stretch monofilament core, these leaders provide smooth energy transfer, excellent turnover, and precise control of fly depth. For ease of use they are pre-looped from the factory; the back end with a classic coated loop and the exposed core in the front has a small and tidy Perfection Loop. Each density has its own special taper and diameter to be perfectly balanced and to create the best and most even sinking effect. The highest densities have a straight level taper which ensures the full leader sinks at the same speed throughout the whole leader.

Polyleader on the water

Depending on how deep you want to fish, there are a few ways to keep your fly at the desired zone. A Polyleader with high density will of course sink faster and take your fly further down in the water column, but a longer leader will also go deeper. Retrieve speed is also a factor to consider; if you fish your fly fast the water pressure will push your rig closer to the surface. Finally, the weight of the fly is also important; a weighted fly will work together with the leader and the whole setup will fish nice and deep. The Guideline Polyleders are designed to be lengthened with a piece of tippet. The dimension should match the fish you are after, and with a length between 0,8 m to 2 m (2.5 ft to 6.5 ft).

Whether you’re chasing trout in a small stream, rainbow trout in a large lake or sea run browns on the coast, this series of Polyleaders offers the right combination of length, weight, and sink rates to match your fishing style. The Trout range consists of 5ft and 8ft leaders in four different densities, and the diameter/strength of the monofilament nylon core is 17 lbs/0,33mm.

The Guideline Polyleaders are 100% free from dangerous phthalates and are delivered in a multi-use bag made from recycled plastic with a zip-lock closure.
