Many anglers have come to appreciate longer rods in lighter line weights, as modern technology has made them just as crisp and light as shorter rods. The added length provides better control when mending and directing your line on the water, and it’s also convenient when switching to techniques like dry & dropper or euro-nymphing. It offers the best of both worlds - the accuracy and precision of a 9-foot rod, combined with the reach and control of a rod over 10 feet.
9’6” #3 - This is the perfect ”go-to” rod for delicate and tactical dry fly fishing when presentation is key. With its super light and crisp action, it enables you to cast, mend, and present the fly with the highest accuracy. The rod has a wonderful flex that easily absorbs heavy head shakes from big fish, along with a crisp, light tip for technical casting with aerial mends and short-range precision. Although primarily designed for short to mid-range dry fly work, it still performs well on longer casts and handles a couple of nymphs with ease.
9’9” #4 - With its extra length and higher line weight, the 9’9” #4 is better suited for covering larger waters than its smaller counterpart. Sharing the same excellent rod action and flex, it remains a perfect tool for advanced and technical river fishing. The extra length and backbone also make it highly suitable for still water fishing or deep wading. This rod handles larger flies with ease and is truly a versatile lightweight trout rod.
