The Power Strike PRO 12’ Salmon Leaders feature a superb taper that allows you to fish them as-is with sinking tips, or to add a tippet when using floating lines. The leader turns over large tube flies with ease while maintaining excellent presentation.
The 12´ Salmon Leaders come in a 2-pack, and the packaging is UV-resistant and features a zip closure, allowing you to store the leaders safely in your vest or pack. Each leader is pre-looped for convenience and comes in a subtle smoke grey color for low visibility in the water. These leaders are the result of years of experience on the water and have been fine-tuned for salmon fishing and Spey casting with modern salmon and steelhead lines.
The powerful butt section and taper design ensure efficient energy transfer all the way to your fly. The tip section is long enough to tie your fly directly to the leader without adding a tippet. When fishing with heavier sinking tips or lighter sinking lines, this leader is ready to go. However, the taper easily accommodates an added tippet when you need a more discreet presentation, such as when fishing with floating lines or intermediate tips.
Taper Profile
The taper is divided into three sections: Butt – 40% (145 cm / 4.8 ft), Taper – 25% (90 cm / 2.9 ft), Tip – 35% (130 cm / 4.3 ft). The butt section measures 0.65 mm / 0.026 in, which we consider an ideal match for modern Spey lines and shooting heads. This is followed by a shorter, more aggressive taper that transitions smoothly into what we believe is the perfect tippet length for this type of leader. The leader handles additional tippet with ease if you wish to extend it for a stealthier approach.

Which length to choose; 12ft or 15ft?
Which length of leader you choose is often based on the fishing situation, but also the size of the fly and your casting abilities. A shorter leader is easier to turn over if you are using a larger fly, or if you are new to casting with a fly rod. A longer leader gives more careful presentations and a longer distance between the line tip and the fly, if the fish are wary. The can also be a better choice when spey casting as they give a longer anchor.
